The extension
The extension sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no crash reporting. The only host it ever contacts is the one whose file you opened — the same request the browser would make anyway.
Maps are drawn from outlines that ship inside the extension, so opening a file with coordinates in it loads no map tiles and tells no map service which region you are looking at. There is no link out either: clicking a point copies its coordinates to your clipboard, and where they go from there is your decision, not ours.
One thing is remembered, and only while the browser is running: which view you had open for a given address, whether you had entities resolved, and the CSV header setting. It is kept in memory, never written to disk, and gone when you quit the browser. The address itself is not stored — only the first 16 characters of its checksum, which cannot be turned back into a URL. Addresses carry paths, identifiers and sometimes tokens; none of that needs to be lying around.
The question form on this site
devpreview.me is free, and the extension comes from the App Store or the Chrome Web Store. The form on the start page is not a step towards the download — it is there so you can ask us something.
What you write goes into a single mail to hello@devpreview.me and nowhere else. There is no database behind this page, no list, and nothing to be removed from. Your address is used to answer you, and once that is done the mail is all that remains — delete it by asking, and it is gone.
Nothing is written to this server when you send the form, and your address reaches no third party. The two stores are a different matter: what Apple and Google record when you install from them is theirs to describe, not ours, and we learn nothing from it — not who installed it, not how many.
Older download links, from the time before the stores, still work for as long as they are valid. They carry your address and a timestamp, signed, and a checksum of each link stays on the server so that the same one cannot be used twice. A checksum cannot be turned back into an address. It is deleted once the link expires, and nothing new of this kind is created any more.
This website
No cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party fonts or scripts. The typeface is Inter, served from this domain rather than from Google — a web font loaded from elsewhere would make every page view a transmission. Everything the page loads comes from here. The web server keeps the usual access log, as web servers do.
